New Curriculum Presented in EDU-SMEs project meeting in Valmiera26.04.2016

On April 12 -13, the new curriculum developed during the project EDU-SMEs was presented in the project seminar in Valmiera. During spring 2016 active work process has been happening in the project “Curriculum alignment and cross-border cooperation between universities and small and medium-sized enterprises” (EDU-SMEs). Teachers who are involved in this Project (Arcada University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), TTK University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (Latvia) are developing new pedagogical methods for Business Management and Entrepreneurship programs, with main focus on small and medium business forms, and this new curriculum was presented in Valmiera on April 12-13.

Resulting knowledge and pedagogical approaches will be integrated into already existing curricula. Here teachers don’t only pay particular attention for students to supplement their base of theoretical knowledge, they also put a great emphasis on practical activities – real life assignments. Within the learning process young future specialists will make target research for small and medium sized companies, which will participate in this project, helping them to strengthen their existing market positions and enter new international markets in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. Students will be also strengthening their knowledge and gaining practical skills that will allow to understand the situation in the labour market, hence making it easier to start their professional careers.

Industries that the project involves are various – architecture, design, infrastructure & construction, transport & logistics, IT, manufacturing, food and beverage etc.

Project “EDU-SMEs” is realized in three partner countries – Finland, Estonia and Latvia. Project has two main challenges – promoting the success of students in the preparation for the actual labour market requirements with real-life practice and promoting small and medium-sized enterprises in expanding their operations and entering markets in other Central Baltic States.

The project is realised in Central Baltic INTERREG program and with support of European Regional Development Fund. More information about the project and its progress available on the home page
