From February 22 – 27, 2015, the Faculty of Social Sciences of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA), together with Scandinavian and Baltic partners, organized an intensive programme on “Lean Canvas”, which is one of Nordplus network Ekoteknord activities. During the programme 30 students from Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Iceland, Denmark and Latvia came to ViA to work together on cases of different companies.

The intensive course is a common programme prepared by lecturers from University College Lillebælt, Denmark, Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, Lithuania, TTK University of Applied Sciences, Estonia, University of Akureyri, Iceland, Metropolia Business School, Finland, and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvia. The programme includes lectures, seminars, field trips, social programme and student group work. In cooperation with Valmiera Business and Innovation Incubator (www.vbii.lv), the students this time worked on cases of three companies offering their solutions and ideas, and presenting them at the end of the week.

During the week the students also participated in lectures given by lecturers from all partner-institutions on such topics as lean principle, marketing, new product development and acquisition of new markets. From TTK UAS, lecturer Ivar Soone participated together with 4 students from different faculties.

The result of this student experience was to enhance the participating students’ understanding of entrepreneurship, the latest theories and tools used to solve real business problems surrounding entrepreneurship and also allow students to achieve Baltic-Nordic understanding of entrepreneurship.
