The Students of TTK UAS Restored the Formula Estonia14.09.2015

The students of Automotive Engineering have restored a race car from 1966 called Estonia 9. Only three original Estonia 9-s have preserved to this day. „This formula car represents a novel approach in the racing world of this era. The car in question participated in numerous international races and was certainly competitive“, sais Arno Sillat from the Museum of Motor Sports.

The students were supervised by Jaak-Jüri Soosaar, who has worked in a formula factory assembling this kind of cars. The maximum speed of Estonia 9 was 174 km/h, it had a DDR Wartburg motor, Pneumant Sport tires and breaks from a Soviet car called Moskvitch. The restored car will not race though, it will be shown in the Museum of Estonian Motor Sports, which will be opened next year.
