Elen Tatrik, first year student at the Textile and Clothing Institute, and Minni Meisterson, a recent graduate from TTK UAS, were awarded a Medallion for Excellence at the European professional skills competition EuroSkills 2018 held in Budapest late September.<\/p>\n
Their advisor, lecturer Diana Tuulik said that the competition was of a very high level and orientation in different fields of competence was needed. \u201cBesides design and tailoring skills and competence in specialized software, the team had to have good cooperation and presentation skills, be good at time management and be able to perform under pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n
The competition was preceded by a thorough research on a given topic which was a female raincoat suitable for all seasons. \u201cThe students had to research the market, textile and design trends, define target groups and predict the future trends,\u201d enlists Diana Tuulik. The students also had to make a moodboard, draw the sketches and sew a prototype and make the technical drawings. The process terminated with a sales call to sell the product to the defined target group.<\/p>\n
