At the prestigious Clash of Trades International competition in France for 5-axis CNC milling machines, a team of students from TTK University of Applied Sciences emerged victorious. The team comprised Mechanical Engineering student Robert-Juss Soe and Automotive Engineering student Robin Saarniit, with the team guided by Madis Moor, the head of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA gold medal for TTK students is a remarkable achievement, underscoring the high level of Estonian technical education and the skills of our youth to compete on an international stage,\u201d said Madis Moor, Head of TTK\u2019s Mechanical Engineering program. The victory also comes with a \u20ac10,000 cash prize, half of which will go to the students who represented the school, while the other half will support the university. According to Moor, the school plans to invest this sum in developing the learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The multi-day competition saw participation from five teams across Europe, representing Estonia, France, Italy, Denmark, and Lithuania. \u201cDuring several intense days, our students competed against teams from four European countries, demonstrating resilience, skill, and commitment\u2014our students performed excellently!\u201d praised Moor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moor added that this was not the first time Estonian students took part in such a competition; this was actually the third time Estonia was represented internationally. \u201cPrevious competitions took place in Belgium and Portugal, and on both occasions, our students achieved an honorable second place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition\u2019s task was to manufacture a three-part trophy cup: the trophy base, middle section, and top part. The base was a creative task, with the design, technology, and part production done at TTK University of Applied Sciences. The trophy\u2019s middle section was manufactured in France, though the programming task for this part was given to teams two weeks before the competition. The top part was a surprise element, programmed and produced on-site in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project MFG originated in the United States to strengthen the manufacturing sector and develop technical skills in the production field. The project has proven successful, bringing together talented young professionals and offering them practical experience in real-world work scenarios. Project MFG supports countries in meeting labor demands and contributes to innovation and economic growth in the manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n
