TTK University of Applied Sciences will host its first-ever clothing swap event, TTK Riidering, on April 23\u201324. The initiative aims to give new life to clothes that have been sitting unused in people\u2019s wardrobes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two-day event will take place in the atrium of the fourth floor of TTK\u2019s main building and is open to students, lecturers, and staff. Participants are invited to bring clean and wearable clothing, shoes, or accessories that are no longer in use and exchange them on-site for other items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TTK Riidering is organised as part of the sustainability-focused movement Samm Korraga<\/em> (\u201cOne Step at a Time\u201d). According to event organiser and first-year Sustainable Textile Technology student Eliisa Aarna<\/strong>, the goal is to help shift people\u2019s consumption habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe aim to promote sustainability and reduce overconsumption,\u201d says Aarna. \u201cMore conscious consumption often starts with small choices. For example, before buying a new item, it is worth asking friends whether someone might already have what you are looking for. This way, an unused item in someone\u2019s wardrobe can be given a new life, helping to reduce overconsumption,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TTK Senior Lecturer and Head of the Sustainable Textile Technology curriculum Marika-My Laid<\/strong> highlights the broader impact of the initiative: \u201cFrom the perspective of sustainable textiles, Riidering is important because it extends the lifespan of garments and reduces the need for new production. In this way, it supports the principles of the circular economy and helps foster a more conscious and responsible consumption culture,\u201d says Laid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants are asked to register in advance via an online form<\/a> and bring up to 10 clean and usable items of clothing, pairs of shoes, and\/or accessories to the clothing collection point set up in the A-block 4th floor atrium on April 15 or April 20 between 12:00 and 15:00. At the event, participants can choose the same number of items as they have donated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to clothing exchange, the event will offer a welcoming atmosphere with a DJ, snacks and drinks, and a raffle. Even those who do not have items to bring are welcome to attend\u2014in that case, each item costs \u20ac2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All remaining items after the event will be donated to large families in Tallinn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
