Two architecture competitions won by TTK UAS teaching staff

Two major architecture competitions in Tallinn have been won by TTK UAS teaching staff.

Last week it was announced that architectural bureau Tüür Kadrik Arhitektid, run by TTK UAS’ lecturers Mihkel Tüür and Ott Kadarik, has been declared the winner of the competition to renew the buildings of Balti Manufaktuur, the former textile factory located in northern Tallinn. As the result the old factory complex will be turned into a modern residential and commercial area.

Today brought news that the contest entry titled “Rannahoov” designed amongst others by Tomomi Hayashi, a lecturer at TTK UAS, and Jüri Nigulas and Grete Liis Nagelmann, graduates from TTK UAS Institute of Architecture, has won the architecture competition of the a new public building of the Stroomi beach. The entry stood out for its multifunctional and airy design that allows to organize leisure activities regardless of the season. The jury found that the elegant design of the building and the surroundings relates perfectly to the natural environment and supports in the best way possible pastime by the seaside.
