Micro degree in Modern Harmonized Electrical Engineering (2023–2026)
Led by Tallinn University of Applied Sciences (TTK), the aim of the project is to modernize and harmonize electrical engineering training programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels by creating a micro degree during 2023–2026, in order to meet the real needs of electrical companies. Project partners: Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) and Brno University of Technology (BUT).

The micro degree has been structured into work packages with learning materials based on the strengths of each partner university:

  • WP 2: Modern Electrical Design – 12 ECTS. Lead: TTK
  • WP 3: Smart Use of Renewable Energy in Buildings – 10 ECTS. Lead: TAMK
  • WP 4: Modern Efficient Lighting – 10 ECTS. Lead: BUT

Activities 2023–2024
As a result of the ElMicro project activities, 1,370 slides and 70 videos in English have been created. The initial refinement of the created learning materials, totalling 32 ECTS, was carried out based on received feedback. Feedback collected from introducing the learning materials to designers in partner companies provided valuable information on which topics and materials are important and necessary for electrical companies and how well they meet designers’ expectations.

Activities 2025–2026
In the first half of 2025, partial piloting of all work package module learning materials was carried out at the partner universities. This resulted in detailed overviews of their compliance with and relevance to the project’s objectives. Based on the analysis of piloting results, the learning materials will be further improved as needed in the second half of 2025.
Next, a Moodle online portal will be created, and the materials will be uploaded and made available for international use. The ElMicro learning materials are planned to be implemented in the partner universities’ degree programs in electrical engineering as well as in continuing education for electrical engineers.

In the first half of 2026, the ElMicro project results will be widely presented in the project partner countries—Estonia, Finland, and the Czech Republic—as well as internationally. This will be followed by the preparation and submission of the project’s final report to the Erasmus+ fund for final financing.
