HARNO recognises TTK senior lecturer for contribution to the future of engineering

At the initiative of the Education and Youth Board (HARNO), Estonia’s first appreciation event dedicated to engineering education was held to recognise outstanding contributors to the field. Anneli Ramjalg, Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Construction at TTK University of Applied Sciences, was awarded the title Contributor to the Future of Engineering.

The purpose of the event was to highlight and acknowledge individuals and initiatives that consistently address the shortage of engineers. A total of 97 nominations were submitted, from which 40 advanced to the jury evaluation stage. Ultimately, nine nominees received recognition, including Anneli Ramjalg.

Over the past decade, Anneli Ramjalg has made a substantial contribution to promoting the engineering profession within Estonia’s education landscape. She initiated the programme “100 Steps in Engineering”, which has reached tens of thousands of young people across the country. Under her leadership, a wide range of initiatives have been launched and delivered, including the Goldberg Machine Building Competition, engineering career days, Building the Future camps, iNseneeria Weekend, and inspiration days for girls. These activities introduce engineering to learners at all levels—from primary school pupils and vocational students to university students. Through her work, Ramjalg has consistently demonstrated that engineering is a collaborative and team-based profession.

The jury comprised representatives from the Education and Youth Board, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the Estonian Employers’ Confederation, and the Estonian Association of Engineers.
