TTK University of Applied Sciences is participating in the newly launched KOBAR 3 project, led by the Pärnumaa Development Centre, which aims to strengthen cooperation between businesses and higher education institutions in Pärnu County. The project connects the development needs of local businesses with the expertise, specialists and applied research capabilities of higher education institutions.
According to Tarmo Sildeberg, Vice-Rector for Development at TTK, the university’s key strength lies in its ability to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges. “We want businesses in Pärnu County to have easy access to our experts, laboratories and applied research capabilities, and to receive support in addressing their development needs.
“Companies can turn to us with both specific questions and broader challenges. Often, they need more than an answer to a single problem – they need a partner who can help them analyse the situation, explore different solutions and identify the most appropriate way forward,” said Sildeberg.TTK’s expertise spans a wide range of fields, including logistics, transport and mobility, production process optimisation, digitalisation, resource efficiency, the circular economy, construction and infrastructure. Businesses can benefit from applied research and expert consultancy, access to laboratory facilities, as well as opportunities to involve students through projects, internships and final theses.
“KOBAR 3 provides an opportunity to make this kind of cooperation more systematic and to give businesses in Pärnu County better access to the knowledge, expertise and development capabilities of higher education institutions,” Sildeberg added.
TTK has extensive experience of working with businesses and public-sector organisations. The university has contributed to development projects in areas such as transport, mobility, construction, manufacturing, logistics and digitalisation, helping partners develop practical solutions and assess the impact of investments and other development activities. Students have also contributed to solving real-world challenges through projects, internships and final theses in fields including production, logistics and technology.
In addition to TTK, the higher education partners in the KOBAR 3 project are the University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), the Estonian University of Life Sciences and Tallinn University.The project is co-financed through the measures “Attractive Regional Business and Living Environment” and “Support for Implementing County Development Strategies” (MATA), as well as through contributions from the project partners. The project will run from September 2026 to October 2028.
