Anneli Ramjalg, senior lecturer at the institute of construction of TTK University of Applied Sciences, has been named Lecturer of the Year 2026 in Estonia’s Teacher of the Year competition. The award recognises her dedication to teaching, her ability to connect theoretical knowledge with the practical world of work, and her contribution to developing the next generation of engineers in Estonia.
Anneli’s teaching focuses on work-related learning, in which students tackle practical tasks, make independent decisions and seek creative solutions to professional challenges. Her supportive approach, academic expertise and ability to explain complex topics clearly have earned her the respect and trust of her students.
To connect theory with real-world practice, Anneli incorporates visits to construction sites, study trips and contributions from industry professionals into her teaching. This helps students better understand how the knowledge they acquire can be applied in their future careers. In addition to sharing professional expertise, she considers it important to foster collaboration, a sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
Anneli’s contribution to developing the next generation of engineers extends beyond teaching. For more than a decade, she has led the “100 Steps into Engineering” programme, which has introduced engineering to thousands of young people across Estonia and helped raise the profile and perceived value of engineering education. The Engineering Career Day and Practice Inspiration Day, both launched under her leadership, offer students further opportunities to develop self-management skills, professional competence and a sense of responsibility.
Anneli is an alumna of TTK’s building construction programme. After graduating, she worked in the field for several years before joining TTK in 2008 to contribute to the education of future engineers.
