We invite everyone interested to join the TimberEDU Final Conference at TTK University of Applied Sciences on Thursday, 15 October 2026. The conference focuses on student-centered and project-based approaches to teaching sustainable timber construction.

The keynote speaker is Steve Bertasso from the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) in the UK. In his presentation, “Rethinking Construction Education for a Low-Carbon World”, he will explore how construction education can be rethought and how to prepare a new generation of engineers for a low-carbon world.

The conference will showcase the work and results of the three-year TimberEDU project – including the development of student-centered pedagogical competences, trans-disciplinary project based learning (PBL), new teaching materials and learning content in sustainable timber construction. The programme will also explore innovative approaches to timber construction and their application in higher education.

The conference will be held in a hybrid format, with participants welcome to join either at TTK University of Applied Sciences or online.

P.S. On 14 October, participants also have the opportunity to join a site visit day featuring four interesting sites: the Loodusmaja building, a timber house factory, a factory-based apartment building renovation site, and Fahle Terrassid, Estonia’s first high-rise building with a timber load-bearing structure.
